Monroe Community College

Evaluation of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Project (CSTEP)
Monroe Community College asked C-PREP to evaluate the effectiveness of their Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, a New York State Education Department funded project designed to improve academic achievement in science and technology among college students who are minority.

Rochester Biomedical Experience Evaluation
In the 2004-2005 academic year, Monroe Community College was awarded a $624,386, three-year Bridges to the Future grant from the National Institutes of Health for The Rochester Biomedical Experience. There are three objectives of The Rochester Biomedical Experience:
  • Objective 1: Increase the number of underrepresented minority students enrolled in and graduating from biomedical-related science programs at Monroe Community College.

  • Objective 2:Improve the academic skills and motivation of the “biomedical Scholars’ enrolled in science programs at Monroe Community College.

  • Objective 3:Prepare second-year “Biomedical Scholars” at Monroe community College to transfer to biomedical science baccalaureate programs at Rochester Institute of Technology. C-PREP is conducting an evaluation of the project that is (i) summative of the current project and (ii) formative for an upcoming application for funding to continue the project.

This project is ongoing, and the final report will be posted here.
